A police officer has died in the line of duty after being shot in Oakland as woke district attorney faces recall over the city’s rampant violent theft.
The officer was reportedly shot and killed during an incident overnight Friday.
The officer was transported to Highland Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
‘It is with a heavy heart that we come together to share the devastating news of the passing of our colleague and friend,’ the Oakland Police Department shared on social media.
At about 5:15am, extensive sections of the Embarcadero were sealed off, and traffic was directed.

Only law enforcement officers were permitted to access the Embarcadero, and California Highway Patrol took the measure of closing the I-880 northbound 5th Ave and the southbound 16th Ave off-ramps.

An Oakland Police Department (OPD) helicopter also maintained a constant presence over the Embarcadero area throughout the morning.
Oakland Firefighters shared that their ‘hearts are with the Oakland Police officer shot this morning,’ in a post on X.
Additional information has not been disclosed and the investigation is ongoing.
An official OPD news conference is scheduled Friday to provide further information.
