Google’s Satellite SOS feature is rolling out to Pixel 9 Series. This was announced when the phones were revealed. It’s only available in the US at the moment and will be free for the first two years. It’s unclear how much the service will cost after that.
To use Satellite SOS, Google Messages must be the default messaging app on your Pixel 9. Once you get the notification that the service is active, go to Settings > Safety & emergency > Satellite SOS to learn more about it and see a demo showing how it works.

Before you contact emergency services via Satellite SOS, you’ll need to answer a few questions about your emergency to ensure you get the best help for your specific situation. Note that when your phone uses Satellite SOS, it shares your name, email, phone number, location, device details, and emergency contact details with emergency services and satellite service providers. Google has partnered with Skylo for the backend, while Garmin is handling the emergency response.
