Scoop Trailer: Gillian Anderson Leads Netflix’s Next Royal Family Drama

Netflix has dropped the official Scoop trailer for its upcoming British drama which will chronicle the story behind Prince Andrew’s controversial BBC interview back in 2019.

The video features Emmy and Golden Globe winner Gillian Anderson starring as real-life journalist Emily Maitlis. The film is scheduled to make its debut on April 5.

“Inspired by real events, Scoop is the inside account of the tenacious journalism that landed an earthshattering interview – Prince Andrew’s infamous BBC Newsnight appearance,” reads the synopsis. “From the tension of producer Sam McAlister’s high stakes negotiations with Buckingham Palace, all the way to Emily Maitlis’ jaw dropping, forensic showdown with the Prince, the series takes us inside the story, with the women who would stop at nothing to get it.

Who’s involved in Scoop?

Based on Sam McAlister’s memoir Scoops: Behind The Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interview, the film is directed by Philip Martin from a screenplay written by Peter Moffatt and Geoff Bussetil. Scoop stars Billie Piper as Sam McAlister, Gillian Anderson as Emily Maitlis, Keeley Hawes as Amanda Thirsk, Romola Garai as Esme Wren and Rufus Sewell as Prince Andrew. The film is executive produced by McAlister and Sanjay Singhal, with Hilary Salmon and Radford Neville producing.
