Seinfeld star Peter Crombie dead at 71 after battling illness – actor was known for playing Crazy Joe Davola on hit sitcom: ‘He was loved by everybody’

Seinfeld star, Peter Crombie, died on Wednesday at the age of 71 after battling an unknown illness, reported TMZ. 

The Hollywood actor – who was best known for portraying the character of Crazy Joe Davola on the beloved sitcom – passed away ‘quickly’ due to the illness, according to his ex-wife Nadine Kijner. 

However, the type of ailment has yet to be disclosed, as well as other details surrounding his death. 

Crombie’s ex-wife informed the outlet: ‘He was the kindest most caring, giving, considerate man. He was loved by everybody, generous and never had anything bad to say about anyone.’ 

A close pal of the late star, Bill Stetz, also expressed that Peter was, ‘a gentle and loyal friend of soft words and expressive work as an actor and a writer.’

Crombie notably appeared in a total of five episodes while portraying the character of Crazy Joe Davola on Seinfeld throughout 1992 and 1993. 

Some of the episodes that he appeared in included The Opera, The Watch, The Pitch and also The Pilot. 

During his time on the show, Davola was an antagonist to Seinfeld, and at one point, briefly dated Jerry’s close friend Elaine – played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. 

Peter took on other roles in film projects throughout the course of his career, such as My Dog Skip, The Blob, Natural Born Killers and also Se7en.   

He made other TV appearances as well, including NYPD Blue (1998), two episodes of House Of Frankenstein (1997) and L.A. Law (1994). 

His first credited acting role, per the late actor’s IMDB page, was in the TV movie titled Broken Vows, which starred Tommy Lee Jones and Annette O’Toole. 

In the project – which had been released in 1987 – Crombie had tackled the character of Dan Phelan. 

His last credited role was in 2000 when he portrayed Detective Moody in the hit series Walker, Texas Ranger.
