Sarah Ferguson released a heartfelt statement on his 65th birthday as she opens up about her recent health fears.

The Duchess of York celebrated her birthday on Tuesday and received thousands of happy wishes from people around the world.

After attending an event in London to raise vital funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, the Duchess released a statement on Instagram reflection on the last year.

The mum-of-two wrote: “Thank you for all the wonderful birthday wishes! I feel incredibly grateful to be here every day, smelling the flowers, reading and writing, and being able to see my daughters and grandchildren.

“It’s been an amazing, busy year – a year of recovery and growth – and I feel so lucky.

Fergie says Hello!: “I have to be checked regularly and have to put cream on my face to protect against sun damage, which means big blisters on my face, chest and hands for three weeks.

“But I don’t do immunotherapy, I don’t take any medications or chemotherapy, which I’m very grateful for.

“I’ve always raised my daughters to be so honest and frank that they know I’m going to tell them straight, no matter how hard it is.

“So when they said, ‘Mom, tell us the absolute truth: Have they eliminated all cancers?’ and the answer was yes, they knew they were safe.”
