After another less-than-stellar NFL regular season and early exit in the NFL playoffs, the Pittsburgh Steelers are a team in the AFC that could be in for some drastic changes during the offseason, especially on the offensive side of the football field.

The main concern for the Steelers this offseason is the quarterback position and seeing whether the team can upgrade the spot with a veteran like Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, or whoever might be available.

On Friday, the Steelers made a move that will clear $10 million off the salary cap, which obviously helps the team be active on the free-agent market during the offseason.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Steelers have released veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson, which will result in $2 million in dead money.

After a few successful seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears to start his NFL career, Robinson has had a rough few years in the league filled with failed expectations, as he has not been a game-changer for the Los Angeles Rams or Steelers over the last two seasons.

During his best season in the NFL, Robinson caught 80 passes for 1,400 yards and 14 receiving touchdowns with the Jaguars back in 2015.

Last season, Robinson was thought to be a big addition to the Rams’ receiving corps, but he only racked up 339 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games before moving to Pittsburgh for the 2023 campaign.

In his only season with the Steelers, Robinson caught 34 passes for 280 receiving yards and zero touchdowns.

Although Robinson hasn’t had good seasons in the last few years, he might still draw some interest on the open market.
