BERLIN. The federal chairman of the Green Party, Omid Nouripour, has called for a ban on the Islamic group “Muslim Interaktiv”. “Especially the troops, who is doing these caliphate demonstrations, should be banned. And honestly, I don’t have an answer as to why this hasn’t happened yet,” Nouripour said in an interview with the newspaper on Wednesday. Image-Newspaper.
Anyone who advocates an Islamic theocracy is in opposition to the free, democratic basic order. “This is also a reason why not only the demonstration should be banned, but also the organization that wants it,” said Nouripour.
You know what I like about this? #Caliphate Demos that upset the most? The problem is not the 1,100 Islamists who demonstrated here. The problem is that NOTHING is heard from 99% of the remaining 5,298,000 Muslims in this country! No counter-demonstrations, no outrage, no… pic.twitter.com/GEtQyDZx5w

Faeser wants to rebuke the call for a caliphate
It is unclear whether calling for a caliphate is in itself a criminal offense. According to the interpretation of the Central State Security Service of the Hamburg Public Prosecution Service, this is not the case. ‘Concrete action’ is needed, such as direct calls for crimes and clear plans for a coup. Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD) announced on Tuesday that she would investigate whether the call for a caliphate could be fundamentally banned.
In addition to the ban on ‘Muslim Interactive’, Nouripour would like to see more consistent action against Islamists in general. This will require more police and regulatory agencies. There is currently a shortage of staff here.
Nouripour also explained how he believes criminal Islamists should be tackled. “And if the people are German citizens, they are in prison. But if you are not a German citizen, there is a rule in the criminal code that if you impose a certain sentence, people will of course be treated under immigration law. Means: leave the country.”
