Ange Postecoglou does not have a release clause in his Tottenham contract amid links with Liverpool’s managerial vacancy, sources have told Football Insider.

Reports in Postecoglou’s native Australia have suggested the Spurs boss is in the frame to replace Jurgen Klopp at the end of this season.

The 58-year-old, who has previously revealed he is a Liverpool fan, is believed to be happy with the long-term project at Tottenham.

In any case, famously tough negotiator Daniel Levy will make luring Postecoglou away from north London extremely difficult for any interested side.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Tottenham are “comfortable” with the situation at present, with the ex-Celtic boss still having three years left on his deal.

Spurs would not entertain any big-money compensation offers for their manager – who has won fans over with his style of play since being appointed last year.

The Lilywhites currently sit fourth in the Premier League and are well-placed to return to the Champions League in the 2024-25 campaign.

Postecoglou has won 15 of his 27 games in charge so far this term – the second-highest win percentage of any Tottenham manager.

Liverpool have begun the search for a new boss since Klopp announced his intention to leave the club last month.

Football Insider revealed on 27 January that top candidate Xabi Alonso has a clause inserted in his Bayer Leverkusen contract that would allow him to leave and become the next manager at Anfield.

In other news, Tottenham accelerate plans to sign “next Harry Kane”.
