Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Pedro Neto from Wolves in the upcoming transfer window. The 23-year-old winger has been performing well in the Premier League this season, and Arsenal may try to secure his services by offering Reiss Nelson on loan as part of the deal.
Neto joined Wolves from Lazio in 2019 and initially served as a substitute before becoming a regular starter under Nuno Espirito Santo. However, he suffered a serious knee injury in April 2021 and missed 10 months of action. He also had a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury last season.
Despite these setbacks, Neto started the current campaign strongly with one goal and eight assists in Wolves’ first 10 Premier League matches before being sidelined with a hamstring problem. His performances have reportedly caught the attention of Arsenal, who are now targeting him for a move in January.
Wolves are likely to demand a significant fee for Neto, considering his impressive displays for the club. However, Arsenal could use their interest in Nelson to their advantage. Wolves are interested in taking Nelson on loan in January, and Spanish side Sevilla is also keen on the 24-year-old. Nelson, on the other hand, wants to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place as the club aims to win their first Premier League title in 20 years. But if Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is determined to sign Neto, he may encourage Nelson to make the move to Wolves, where he would gain valuable Premier League playing time.
Neto recently made his return to the Wolves team, coming off the bench for the final 10 minutes of their 3-0 victory over Everton. In October, he expressed his commitment to the club, stating that he loves it and is focused on helping the team succeed.
