Shocking footage shows black man being attacked by thugs in Manchester as far-right protests continue.
In the video, hooded men are seen pushing the man to the ground.
One of the attackers then kicks the man and throws him to the ground with punches.
Surrounded, the man then stands up and appears to try to fight back before the men continue to attack him.
Two police officers then intervene, trying to break up the fight. More police then rush in to disperse the crowd.
The black man who was initially attacked is then seen on the ground with a police officer restraining him. The man is then allowed to get up.
The incident comes amid a spate of violence across the UK as far-right supporters of Tommy Robinson stage demonstrations in several cities.
Riots escalated following the Southport stabbings, where 17-year-old suspect Axel Rudakubana is accused of killing three girls.
Protesters have attacked mosques across the UK after false information spread online claiming the suspect in the case had links to Islam.
Rudakubana had not been named when the false allegations were being spread. However, a judge ruled that he could be named as a suspect before lifting reporting restrictions.
A mosque on St Mark’s Road was also attacked in the city centre, despite police efforts to protect it.
Similar scenes were seen in Liverpool, where there were reports of protesters throwing bricks, chairs and missiles at police officers.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer placed the police on a state of emergency on Friday, saying: “I have just held a meeting with senior police and law enforcement leaders where we resolved to show who we are. A country that will not allow understandable fear to turn into division and hatred in our communities and that will not, under any circumstances, allow a breakdown in law and order on our streets.
“Because let’s be very clear about this. This is not protest. This is not legitimate. This is crime and violent disorder. This is an attack on the rule of law and the administration of justice.
“And so, on behalf of the British people who expect their values and their security to be upheld, we will put an end to this.”
