Napoli CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis has confirmed that the club is close to sealing a new deal with striker Victor Osimhen.
The Osimhen new contract saga has rumbled on for months and it has witnessed a fair share of peaks and troughs. But it now seems as if the deal is set to go through, with a meeting involving De Laurentiis and Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda having taken place recently and a principle agreement was reached.
With the deal in pipeline, De Laurentiis recently spoke to Corriere dello Sport in a rather insightful interview and he revealed that the Nigerian will sign a contract extension.
“I’ve said it and I’ll say it again: we’re at the final stretch [regarding an extension].
Even before the club CEO met Calenda, he had confirmed in an interview that the 24-year-old will extend his interview and that is now indeed the case, now that talks have taken place.
The expectation is that Osimhen will have a release clause worth €130 million in his new deal and that has proved to be a vital point in the talks.
