vivo dominated the Indian smartphone market in the third quarter of this year (July to September). It shipped 9.1 million units during that period, compared to 7.2 million in the third quarter of last year. vivo now has a 19% market share, compared to 17% a year ago.

It is followed by Xiaomi, which shipped 7.8 million devices for a market share of 17%. Its shipments increased by 200,000 units from last year, but its market share actually declined by 1%.

Samsung comes in third with 16% of the pie, having shipped 7.5 million units, up from 18% and 7.9 million respectively last year. Oppo and Realme round out the top five, the former with 6.3 million shipments and 13% market share, the latter with 5.3 million shipments and 11% of the pie.

Oppo saw the biggest growth since last year, by 43%, while Realme did worse by 8%. Overall, smartphone shipments in India increased 9% to 47.1 million units shipped. Canalys forecasts modest single-digit growth in 2025, with the ultra-low-end 5G segment remaining the main market driver.
