The Russian Ministry of Defense has officially confirmed the attacks in the border area between Russia’s Belgorod Oblast and Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. Accordingly, Russian forces have occupied five border villages north of the Ukrainian city of Kharkov. Ukrainian authorities, in turn, reported evacuations under Russian fire in the combat zone. The Ukrainian governor of the Kharkov region, Oleh Synjehubov, confirmed his information from the previous day that there is currently no acute danger to the residents of the provincial capital Kharkov.

Meanwhile, President Zelenskyi again called for further support from abroad to successfully repel Russian attacks. “Right now, every anti-aircraft system and missile delivered is a contribution that saves lives and keeps our cities and towns alive,” Zelensky wrote on Facebook. “What really helps are the weapons that are actually delivered to Ukraine, and not just the announcement of such weapons packages.” Germany recently announced the purchase of additional heavy weapons for Ukraine. The US also promised a military aid package that includes ammunition, anti-aircraft missiles and armored vehicles.
