Burnley manager Vincent Kompany and the club’s co-owner expressed their outrage over a controversial decision made by the video assistant referee (VAR) during a Premier League match. Burnley was on the verge of securing a crucial 1-0 victory when Luton’s 92nd-minute equalizer was allowed to stand, despite protests from the home fans. The goal was scored by substitute Carlton Morris, but there was controversy surrounding a potential foul on Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford by Elijah Adebayo. Burnley’s co-owner, former NFL player JJ Watt, took to social media to criticize the decision, calling it “blatant and obvious” and “truly disgraceful.” Kompany described the decision as “ridiculous” and “bizarre,” expressing his frustration with the inconsistency of VAR decisions. Burnley defender Dara O’Shea also expressed his confusion and disappointment over the decision, stating that the players did not receive any explanation on the pitch.
