Tyrell Malacia could finally play for Manchester United again.
The defender, who was Erik ten Hag‘s first hire as Red devils manager, spent an incredibly long time away.
He missed all of last season after undergoing two knee surgeries, but returned to action over the summer.
And now, Malacia’s United career finally looks set to restart, so here’s the last time he stepped onto the pitch…
When did Tyrell Malacia last play?
Malacia last played 15 months ago.
His last appearance before the injury was for the Netherlands against Croatia in the Nations League in June 2023.
Meanwhile, his most recent appearance for United came in an even longer period, on May 28, 2023.
The Dutchman played for the Red Devils in their 2-1 win over Fulham on the final day of the 2022/23 Premier League season.
In total, he missed 56 games for United and over 423 days due to the knee injury.
After arriving at Old Trafford two years ago, Malacia has made just 39 appearances, all in his first season at the club.
He has 22 appearances in the Premier League and another nine in the Europa League.
But now it seems the end of his absence is finally near…
When will Malacia return?
Ten Witch confirmed that Malacia’s injury hell is about to end.
The left-back is expected to return to United training in the near future.
He was named in the 25-man Europa League squad last week and now Ten Hag has provided an update on his fitness.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Red Devils boss said: “Of course we want to motivate him to come back, but it’s not so easy when you’ve been away for so long.
“It’s been more than a season since the injury to his return, but he’s been working really hard and is progressing really well at the moment.
“He is making great strides, so we think that in a short time we can expect him in the team training, and he is a talent, he is a natural.
“I also hope that he can return to the games soon.”
