Introduction
Xiaomi has finally entered the Flip foldable market, and it’s all for the manufacturer. It couldn’t be otherwise, since its first Mix Flip comes right on the heels of the hugely popular Galaxy Flip, already in its sixth generation.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip is a slim and stylish compact foldable that follows the latest trends. It has glass panels, an aluminum frame, and a stainless steel hinge. Its most notable exterior feature would be the large 4-inch OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision certification, which supports full apps and widgets simultaneously. In addition, it can also serve as a viewfinder for the rear cameras.
The foldable’s primary display is a 6.86-inch LTPO OLED with 1224p resolution, 10-bit color depth, 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. It offers up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness.
The Mix Flip runs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, matching the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in terms of performance.
Xiaomi has packed a 50MP dual-camera setup on the back, which can also be used for selfies. The primary camera is a 50MP OIS camera, while the secondary camera is a 50MP multi-purpose zoom camera with a floating lens, which offers 2x optical zoom, 4x hybrid zoom, and a macro option up to 9cm away. There’s no ultrawide camera, but the primary camera’s 23mm wide-angle lens should suffice.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip has one of the largest batteries ever in a Flip – a 4,780mAh capacity – and is capable of 67W wired fast charging. Better yet, the phone comes with such a charger. Oops, spoiler alert.
Naturally, the Mix Flip runs on HyperOS. It has been launched in China, but is expected to have a limited global debut in August.

There is one glaring omission, and that is water resistance. Most phones, including the Flip, have at least an IPX7 rating. The latest Galaxy Z Flip6 even has an IP48 rating, which is impressive. Maybe the international Mix Flip has some sort of ingress protection rating, maybe not. For now, we assume it doesn’t have any kind of waterproofing.
Unboxing the Xiaomi Mix Flip
