The Denver Broncos want and need a new quarterback, and they will explore all avenues to get one.

This is one of the most stacked quarterback classes we’ve seen in years, with multiple potential stars taking their talents to the NFL Draft.

Notably, UNC star Drake Maye is one of them, and teams will get a chance to watch him throw on Thursday afternoon, Broncos included (via Zac Stevens).

Just like USC’s Caleb Williams and LSU’s Jayden Daniels, he chose not to partake in some drills at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine and waited until his Pro Day to showcase his skills.

This new trend gives top-notch prospects an opportunity to get more comfortable in a familiar setting and excel with the help of the guys they know and trust.

Maye is projected to be the No. 3 pick in this year’s Draft, so the Broncos would have to give up a lot to trade up to either No. 2 with the Washington Commanders or 3 with the New England Patriots, who are also in big need of a quarterback.

He started for the Tar Heels for the past couple of years, taking over from Sam Howell.

He logged 8,018 yards, 63 touchdowns, and 16 picks in his days at UNC, and he has all the physical tools to become successful at the next level.

The Broncos moved on from Russell Wilson and will now absorb the largest cap hit in NFL history over the next couple of years, so they’re more than one piece away from contending.

That puts them in a tough spot, and maybe going all-in to trade up might not be the wisest decision for them right now.
