The AfD leads the Sunday question with a loss of three percentage points and ends up with a total of 23 percent. The SPD and the CDU follow with 19 percent each. While the Social Democrats led by Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke lost three percentage points, the Union with top candidate and party leader Jan Redmann managed to gain one percentage point. Both parties govern the country together with the Greens, who can currently count on seven percent of the votes.
The left and free voters could be expelled from the Brandenburg state parliament
The left would leave the state parliament. Compared to April, it has lost two percentage points and, with four percent, no longer meets the threshold clause. This would mean that the party would achieve the worst result in the country since German reunification. The Free Voters would also remain outside with three percent. In order to be represented in the state parliament in the future, the parties would have to obtain a direct mandate, which is considered likely by the Free Voters.
The people of Brandenburg are expected to re-elect their state parliament on September 22. The regional association BSW with top candidate Robert Crumbach had already ruled out cooperation with the AfD at the end of May. (kuk)
