Following the trade of Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, the Chicago Bears essentially confirmed that they will be using the first overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft on former USC quarterback Caleb Williams.

Viewed by some as a once-in-a-lifetime type of prospect, Williams has the potential to become the greatest Bears quarterback in the history of the franchise.

While at USC, the young signal-caller made a lot of plays with his arm and with his legs, but with a recent post on his personal Twitter account, he reminded everyone how he can also block for his teammates when needed.

If Williams does indeed end up getting selected by the Bears at the end of April in this year’s NFL Draft, he’s going to be immediately handed a ton of pressure from the team’s fan base.

Chicago fans have literally never seen a quarterback wearing their favorite team’s uniform throw for more than 4,000 yards in a single season.

So even though the bar might not be too difficult to clear, Williams still has to prove he can overcome a franchise tradition of having underwhelming quarterback play that has gone on for the last handful of decades.

When someone like Jay Cutler is arguably your franchise’s most statistically productive quarterback, it’s not a good sign.

To the section of Bears fans that wanted the team to keep Fields, Williams will also have to prove to them that he is the right choice to lead the franchise forward.

He hasn’t even been drafted yet, but the expectations already seem to be getting massive for Williams in Chicago.
