The Los Angeles Lakers entered the 2023-2024 NBA Season with a significant amount of hope and expectation.

Many believed that this team was going to compete for a top spot in the Western Conference, given the star power that exists on their roster.

However, the Lakers currently have the 10th-best record in the West, and while they have locked up a spot in the Play-In Tournament, the team has underperformed in many areas.

The NBA on TNT team recently discussed what has plagued the Lakers this season, including a quote about Anthony Davis from Charles Barkley.

Barkley sung Davis’ praises, saying he has “had an All-NBA season. He answered all of his critics this year,” adding that Davis is “not the reason the Lakers suck.”

When asked about the main reason for the Lakers falling short of expectations, Barkley pointed to “the rest of them.”

He believes that the rest of the Lakers roster hasn’t held up their weight, which includes LeBron James.

James is still the team’s leading scorer, but with him and Davis both on the team, one might think that this team would yield better results.

While the Lakers could technically make a run if they play well in the Play-In Tournament, it’s unlikely that this team will make it to the NBA Finals this year.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see what the future of this team looks like, especially since Davis and James aren’t getting any younger, as the end of their careers are likely approaching.
