After months of teasers, HMD has finally announced its Barbie-themed flip phone. The device is more or less a gamified Nokia 2660 Flip but features several software tweaks as well as a major styling overhaul.
As you’d expect from a collaboration, pink plays a big theme. The phone comes with a pink removable 1,450mAh battery, a pink USB-C cable, a matching polishing cloth, and a few more accessories. These include two swappable back covers, a beaded phone strap, attachable phone charms, and Barbie stickers.
The HMD Barbie Phone features a 2.8-inch main display and a 1.77-inch cover display. It is powered by a Unisoc T107 chipset with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. It comes with a single VGA camera (0.3MP), Bluetooth 5 connectivity, a headphone jack, and a USB-C port for charging and data transfer.
The software side of things is covered by the S30+ operating system in most markets, though the US version runs on KaiOS. HMD has extended the customization to the phone’s UI with custom Barbie icons, wallpapers, and ringtones. The Barbie phone also gets a digital wellness tip, a Barbie meditation app, and self-care reminders.
The HMD Barbie phone is priced at $129/€129/£99 and is on sale today in most parts of the world, while the American version will be released in October.
