Drivers were seen outside their vehicles after a police An incident on the M11 forced the southbound carriageway to close.
An air ambulance was spotted at the scene between junctions 8 and 7A (Stansted and Harlow), with authorities warning the road could be closed for some time. A diversion route is in place.
An article on the National Roads website states: “The M11 is closed southbound between J8 (Stansted) and J7A (Harlow) due to an ongoing incident led by Essex Police. The northbound carriageway is currently blocked to allow the air ambulance to land at the scene.
“All emergency services are working at the scene, with Essex Police leading the response. Traffic officers and contractors are on site assisting with strategic closures as they approach.
“At this stage it is unknown how long the carriageway will be closed. Plans are being made to clear traffic stuck in the closure, please await instructions from officers on site.”
