The New England Patriots have had their names pop up in trade rumors recently, but assuming they stay at No. 3 in the NFL Draft, it feels inevitable that they will be selecting their next franchise quarterback.
The question on everyone’s minds has been about which quarterback they prefer, with a new report suggesting they are high on the two most likely options to be available for them.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Pats “are prepared” to take a QB at No. 3 and are high on both UNC’s Drake Maye and LSU’s Jayden Daniels.
According to @JFowlerESPN, the #Patriots “are prepared” to take a QB at pick No. 3 and “high” on both Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye.
Fowler also states that the Patriots “probably stay put” and take QB3 meaning the #Vikings would only be in play for QB4 🧐

Fowler added that the Patriots “probably stay put” and won’t be trading down, leaving other teams fighting for the QB4 on the board.
There have been reports that the Patriots are open for business but that they haven’t gotten an offer that has blown them away yet.
If you like your options at No. 3 regardless of what happens with the first two picks, it has to take an absolute haul to move off of that pick especially when you’re as desperate at QB as the Patriots are.
The top three projected picks have remained unchanged for months, though Daniels may have leapfrogged Maye.
This draft feels ripe for a big trade up for a quarterback, but that conversation probably starts after the Patriots pick, as most expect the Minnesota Vikings to be most aggressive in trading up for a pick in the No. 4 to No. 6 range to perhaps go after Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy.
We can’t wait to stop speculating and see what happens next week.
