Bad Oeynhausen. After a deadly attack in the spa gardens of Bad Oeynhausen (North Rhine-Westphalia) last weekend, police have arrested a suspect. Investigators said he was an 18-year-old from the city. He was arrested at his home address on Wednesday and will appear in court on Thursday. A 20-year-old was seriously injured in a fight last Sunday and later died in hospital.

“According to current knowledge, he is the main perpetrator who allegedly inflicted the fatal injuries on the 20-year-old victim,” the report said. The police initially provided no information about the suspect’s nationality. Several media outlets had previously reported on it.

Several media outlets had previously reported, citing relatives, that the young man had been declared brain dead. According to the police, an autopsy will be performed on his body soon. When asked, the police did not provide any information about his health. A large group beat the victim and his companion

The 20-year-old and a 19-year-old companion had attended a high school graduation ceremony at the Kaiserpalais in Bad Oeynhausen’s spa gardens on the night of the crime and left around 1:30 a.m., according to the report. “New Westphalian”The newspaper (NW) reports this. Officials explained that there was a lot of activity near the Kurpark on the night of the crime – there was also a larger event. One suspected perpetrator was wearing a bright orange jacket, investigators said.

The victim’s uncle addresses the community

Shortly after it became known that the 20-year-old had died, more than fifty relatives, friends and acquaintances gathered in Minden, where the victim lived. The young man’s uncle addressed the crowd: “Take care of yourself. Take care of your children. Look out for each other,” he said.
