Based on Heather Morris’s 2018 novel of the same name, Auschwitz Tattooist is a historical drama that tells the true story of Lali Sokolov, a Jewish man from Slovakia. After being sent to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in 1942, he was assigned by SS officers to mark the arms of other prisoners with identification numbers. The series premiered in the US on Peacock and in the UK on Sky Atlantic on May 2, 2024. If you’re wondering if there will be second season from The Tattooist of Auschwitz, here’s what we’ve learned.

Here’s what we know Auschwitz Tattoo Expert Season 2 and whether it comes out or not.

Is there a release date for The Tattooist of Auschwitz Season 2?

There is no release date for The Tattooist of Auschwitz Season 2 as the show is being created as a limited series.

Various outlets list The Tattooist of Auschwitz as a limited series, so a second season is unlikely to happen. In six episodes, it tells the story of Lali Sokolov, his time in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, and his love for his future wife through the eyes of an older Lali.

Morris’ original book did have a sequel. However, they focused on other individuals besides Lali. For example, Cilka’s Journey (The Tattooist of Auschwitz #2) tells the story of Cilka Klein, an 18-year-old former prisoner of Auschwitz-Birkenau. After her release, the Soviets accused Cilka of aiding the Nazis and sent her to the Vorkuta Gulag in Siberia.

Meanwhile, the third book, Three Sisters, tells the story of Cibi, Magda, and Livid, who also ended up in Auschwitz-Birkenau. It’s an important story and may one day receive a cinematic or TV adaptation. However, The Tattooist of Auschwitz is clearly about Lali and will likely conclude after telling his story.

The cast of The Tattooist of Auschwitz includes Harvey Keitel as Lali Sokolov and Jonah Hauer-King as young Lali Sokolov. The series also stars Anna Próchniak as Gita, Jonas Nay as Stefan Baretzki, and Melanie Lynskey as Heather Morris.

Why The Tattooist of Auschwitz Season 2 may not air

The Tattooist of Auschwitz Season 2 will probably not be released because, as mentioned above, the series creators are developing it as a limited series.

ComingSoon will provide updates if the situation changes, and Peacock announced a second season of the Holocaust drama series.

The official synopsis of The Tattooist of Auschwitz reads:

“The powerful true story of Lali Sokolov, a Jewish prisoner who was assigned to tattoo ID numbers on the arms of prisoners at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp during World War II.”
