Before the San Antonio Spurs drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, international superstar Victor Wembanyama was getting the level of hype for a young player that could only be compared to LeBron James when he came into the league in 2003.
Along with James, Wembanyama was able to live up to that hype during his first season in the league and prove that he could very well be one of the best players to ever play the game if he can continue to produce at a high level for the Spurs while showing everyone something they’ve never seen on a basketball court.
Even though the Spurs are still one of the worst teams in the NBA right now and will miss the upcoming NBA playoffs, San Antonio definitely has a bright future ahead with Wembanyama leading the way, as his skill set is unmatched and only improving with every passing game that he plays.
During an appearance on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer went as far as to say Wembanyama could become the greatest NBA player we’ve ever seen.
“We’re talking about a player in Victor Wembanyama that has a chance to be the greatest player of all time,” O’Connor said.

As long as the Spurs can start putting the right talent around Wembanyama, the sky is the limit for the French import, who has shown he has all the skills to succeed on the NBA level.
Only time will tell if the Spurs are capable of bringing in the right players to play with their superstar, as he clearly needs some better players around him moving forward.
