This year’s NFL Draft could be the best one in terms of quarterbacks in quite some time.

In fact, it could be the best draft in terms of potential franchise QBs since the famed 1983 draft that brought the league legends such as John Elway, Dan Marino, and Jim Kelly.

For a while, the top tier in the 2024 draft was thought to consist of Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye, but there has been talk lately that J.J. McCarthy may have moved into that stratosphere.

Former star running back Maurice Jones-Drew revealed his mock draft via NFL Network, and it has a couple of surprises.

In his mock-up, the New England Patriots, who have the No. 3 pick, pass up Maye and go with McCarthy, who is fresh off leading the University of Michigan to a win in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Another plot twist comes at No. 5, where the Los Angeles Chargers trade down with the Minnesota Vikings and receive the No. 11 and No. 23 selections, while the Vikings land Maye.

There have been rumors that the Vikings are looking to trade up in order to get their hands on someone such as Maye or at least McCarthy, and if they pull it off, they could instantly become a playoff team again.

Jones-Drew also has the Chicago Bears going with wide receiver Malik Nabers after nabbing Williams at No. 1.

The Bears already traded for star wideout Keenan Allen, and adding Williams and Nabers to a team that is already looking strong could result in the type of success the team hasn’t had in many years.
