Another frequent member of Superman’s supporting cast, Perry White, has been cast in James Gunn‘s upcoming DC Studios movie.

The Hollywood Reporter‘s Borys Kit has revealed that Wendell Pierce will play the role of Perry White — the Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Planet newspaper — in Superman. The character has appeared in several different mediums and Superman stories, having last been portrayed in live-action by Laurence Fishburne.

Some of the other roles that Pierce is best known for include Detective Bunk Moreland in The Wire, James Greer in the Prime Video series Jack Ryan, Robert Zane in Suits, Ben Thomas in 1992’s Malcolm X, and Hosea Williams in 2014’s Selma.

“Superman tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

Who else is starring in Superman?

The titular role in Superman is being played by David Corenswet (Pearl, The Politician), while Lois Lane will be played by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan. They’re joined by Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, María Gabriela De Faría, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, and more. The superhero movie is set to release theatrically on July 11, 2025.
