After spending his entire career in the NFC East division with the New York Giants, veteran running back Saquon Barkley chose to make a drastic change this offseason by changing teams in the NFL for the first time in free agency.

As if it wasn’t bad enough for the Giants to fall apart during the 2023 campaign after such a successful run in 2022, New York has now lost arguably the face of the franchise, who decided to join one of the team’s bitter division rivals in the Philadelphia Eagles.

Barkley seemed to have enough of the Giants not paying him what he was worth or making him feel valued in New York, so he jumped at the opportunity to join a team that was in desperate need of an upgrade at the running back position.

Ironically enough, Barkley is likely regretting a tweet he made in 2014, in which he admitted that he hated the Eagles but wanted to see quarterback Mark Sanchez win a Super Bowl title.

With Barkley being a bitter division rival for the last six years, it is not surprising that someone would dig into his social media accounts to find some dirt about his feelings about the Eagles.

Despite this regrettable tweet resurfacing, Eagles fans are likely elated that Barkley chose to join them, as it certainly makes the Giants weaker and Philadelphia that much stronger coming out of the backfield in 2024.

Philadelphia lost some savvy veterans to retirement in Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox, but this signing should raise the spirits of Eagles fans as it makes the team’s offense stacked and among the best in the league moving forward.
