The NBA media landscape has changed dramatically in recent years as the rise of social media and highlight culture has influenced the way the game of basketball is covered.

For example, major outlets like ESPN have begun to tailor content around the discourse online and it’s resulted in mixed reactions from fans.

ESPN’s coverage has also taken a hit after it let go of several well-known and talented individuals over the years.

For example, the sports network parted ways with Rachel Nichols, who was caught in a controversy over leaked audio that involved her talking about fellow ESPN reporters like Malika Andrews.

Nichols has since rebounded and seems to be doing fine covering basketball and sports again.

However, when it was announced that long-time ESPN executive Norby Williamson was let go she didn’t hold back her feelings, via her personal Twitter account.

“When good things happen to bad people…,” Nichols tweeted.

Williamson seems to have built up some bad blood with people like Nichols who seemed happy after he was ousted from ESPN.

It’s unclear why Nichols disliked Williamson so much, though it likely has to do with her own exit from ESPN and perhaps what was said behind closed doors.

Without Williamson as one of ESPN’s leaders, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of impact this has on the network’s coverage and programming.
