In the SPD Unrest is growing about the austerity measures of Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP). “The SPD will absolutely not agree to this austerity program,” Axel Schäfer, member of the Bochum Bundestag, told Stern. “We must defend ourselves against the constant taunts of the Liberals. I would like the Chancellor to provide liberation.”
Chancellor Scholz recently supported Finance Minister Lindner
Economic politician Sebastian Roloff, member of the SPD party executive committee, also criticized the austerity measures. “I’m starting to lose my imagination about how to budget sensibly under the circumstances,” Roloff said. For example, he warned against investments, integration measures and consulates to rescue. “On the contrary: this country urgently needs investment.”
Recently, Chancellor Olaf Scholz sided with Lindner in the budget dispute and reminded ministers of the austerity demands. Now it’s time to sweat, says Scholz.
