Snapdragon Dev Kit was introduced by Qualcomm for developers in a price $899and features the company’s high-end silicon for Windows-powered machines, the Snapdragon X Elite. Given that this chipset utilizes processing cores based on the ARM instruction set and not the x86 architecture, power efficiency will be its strong point. Unfortunately, the Snapdragon

Since Cinebench 2024 beats the CPU, it’s clear that Snapdragon X Elite will achieve higher power usage when running on Snapdragon Dev Kit

Considering the Snapdragon Dev Kit isn’t a mobile machine and can’t function while being carried around, it makes sense for Qualcomm to let the Snapdragon X Elite run at full speed so developers get access to the chipset’s full performance. Jeff Geerling, a developer, noticed this behavior when launching Geekbench 6 and Cinebench 2024. The first benchmark revealed that the Snapdragon X Elite’s power consumption was 80W, which is an acceptable range.

However, things changed when running Cinebench 2024, as Geerling reported power consumption in the 99W-102W range. At the end of the benchmarking test, Snapdragon X Elite obtained single-core and multi-core scores of 131 and 1,227 respectively. These numbers suggest that the SoC can suck power like there’s no tomorrow, but Geerling believes that Qualcomm may have done this on purpose to allow the chipset to perform at its maximum capability, thereby giving developers full advantage of the hardware.

It seems unlikely that the same Snapdragon Regarding the performance of the Snapdragon

According to PersonSuitTV on redditduring Cinebench 2024 testing, the M3 Pro operating in normal power mode consumed a total of 46W, making it less than half that of the Snapdragon X Elite. As for the M3 Max, running the same test on the 16-core CPU version resulted in a power spike of 87W, and as you already know, this Apple Silicon can easily run the Snapdragon X Elite.
