The Sacramento Kings might have more competition than they did last year and are the seventh seed in the Western Conference, but there is still no denying just how strong of a team they are.

In fact, the Kings have a particular player who is playing better than anyone else in the league in a number of huge ways.

Domantas Sabonis has ranked first in rebounds, assists, double-doubles, and triple-doubles since the start of January, according to StatMuse.

He is currently averaging 21 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists on 63% shooting in that span.

Sabonis was playing strong again on Sunday night, posting 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists against the Houston Rockets.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to carry the Kings, who fell to the Houston Rockets, 112-104.

Last season, Sabonis averaged 19.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists.

He led the league in rebounds and is doing so again in 2023-24, with 13.5.

He is also recording 20.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

At this point last season, the Kings were one of the top teams in the Western Conference, but this year they have slid down a bit in the rankings.

They are still intensely competitive, of course, and they have a very good shot at reaching the playoffs and going far.

But it’s clear that the West is much more crowded and competitive than it was last year and that is making life harder for Sacramento.

With that being said, Sabonis is playing wildly impressive basketball and has cemented himself as one of the best big men in the league.

Next up for the Kings will be the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

Can Sabonis post such incredible numbers over one of the best teams in the league?
