More than 4,000 episodes in 20 seasons – the telenovela ‘Sturm der Liebe’ continues to surprise countless viewers almost 20 years after its launch. Currently, fans have to wait a long time for new episodes, because the series took an XXL summer break a few weeks ago. It is not until August 16 that the trials and tribulations of love continue in the Fürstenhof. Until then, the makers provide their loyal followers with a podcast that provides behind-the-scenes insights. And Instagram also provides entertainment with photos and videos of ‘Sturm der Liebe’, which is now also receiving criticism.

Jealousy, faked death, psychiatry: “Storm of Love” role “Tom Dammann” polarizes even after his departure

What are the fans concerned about? Is it about the announced reduced broadcasting time for 2025? As announced by production, the length of the episode will be reduced from approximately 48 minutes to 24 minutes. Or is it because of the whispers that crowd favorites like Sepp Schauer or Antje Hagen have to fear for their jobs because of the cutbacks? The makers emphasized this to AZ: “Of course the Sonnbichlers are there!” Currently, fans are not complaining about the airtime or the exit rumors: a discussion is raging on Instagram about a character who is no longer part of the series.

From January 2023 to May 2024, actor Milan Marcus played the role of “Tom Dammann” in “Sturm der Liebe”. In the telenovela he initially made a charming appearance and was even allowed to fall in love. But over time, his true character became clear, his jealousy took over and, after his apparent death and a kidnapping, he ended up in a psychiatric hospital – perfect story material for a telenovela. But some fans seem unhappy with the development of “Tom Dammann”.

Fans complain about twist in ‘Sturm der Liebe’: ‘I didn’t think it was appropriate’

The production published the highlights of Milan Marcus’s performance in a role on the Instagram account “Sturm der Liebe”. However, many followers are disappointed with the outcome of his role. “I didn’t think the role he had at the end was suitable for him either,” one viewer wrote in the comments. Another grumbled: “I liked the beginning between the two so much, too bad it had such a stupid ending.”

“Sturm der Liebe” comeback of Milan Marcus as “Tom Dammann”?

Aside from the turn Milan Marcus’s role takes, most fans agree: Acting-wise, it was “just great cinema.” There are even calls from some audience members calling for a comeback for “Tom Dammann”. “Tom Dammann should please come back (if cured) and would be a good candidate for the male lead!”, enthuses a follower on Instagram. Another sees it the same way: “It doesn’t always have to be only young actors who play the leading roles.”

Will Milan Marcus return to his role on the set of “Sturm der Liebe”? That will only become clear after the summer holidays. It wouldn’t be unlikely, though, as telenovelas are known for their (sometimes somewhat unrealistic) twists.
